Spiritual Death and Transformation
It occurs to me (and I don't know why this took so long) that what the majority of us are experiencing is also a pretty normal and expected part of the journey of the spiritual aspirant. Also, that we could be having a shared karmic/astrological connection in that many of us joined within a similiar time period (between 1970 and 1990, or thereabouts) and are experiencing this transformation now.

It is simply not unheard of and is very well documented that the spiritual traveler simply outgrows the exterior trappings of his or her path and internalizes them. The fact that these experiences are not validated by srf (indeed, they are frowned upon, warned against, etc..) is also to be expected. Outwardly focused and status conscious individuals have nothing to gain by thus, and are indeed threatened by it, seeing only the outward "abandonment" of srf. This is of course not indicative of their spiritual superiority or "loyalty" so much as thier lack of insight and stagnated or halted spiritual progress. In other words, they are satisfied. They have found their niche in the church or whatever and may actually believe that they are right on (which perhaps they are, for them).

I for one do not believe that srf ruined my life. It did provide an opportunity and structure for me to clean up my act and focus on spiritual studies and techniques for a time. That is not to say that I didn't experience the shock of my life when I first read the Walrus (after I had already "left" srf). Three sleepless nights, heart palpatations and general shock and disbelief were my initial reactions. I thought I WAS the only one (or one of the few) that felt that way. Surely all the monks, nuns and "insiders" were happy campers! Skipping and smiling into the beam and realization!

Now it just feels refreshing and it is a relief to shed the bogus trappings of srf and concentrate on my inner path, my kriya (to do as needed, or not at all at certain times) and go where that leads.

Without the guilt trip or any more "advice" from srf.

I do appreciate the shared stories and comments from the Walrus contributors. This is also not to deemphasize the problems and corruption within srf. I just think that change will happen from the outside (or not at all). It just seems to me that the growth and enlightenment necessary to see clearly enough to make such changes is not likely and is perhaps impossible within that structure.

Re: Spiritual Death and Transformation
Almost everyone in our age group (born from mid-50's through the entire 60's) was born with Uranus and Pluto conjunct. This is what brought the societal changes in the 60's. "Revolution is in the air"... This conjunction was in sextile with Neptune for the entire period (the Pluto/Neptune sextile is a very long lasting aspect, they are still in sextile, currently with a 5 degree orb that get's larger or smaller depending on the forward/retrograde motion of the two planets) and represents an opportunity for spiritual transformation. I haven't checked when this aspect started and when it's going to end, but it's been happening for decades. Pluto represents all deep transformation processes, the unconconscious, death, rebirth, etc., Neptune, while representing many other things, specifically rules Yoga, mysticism, and the various and sundry spiritual paths. Any person with a personal planet aspecting these outer planets will be going through a life time of deep internal change. Pluto is currently in Sagitarius, the sign representing organized religion. It's clearly producing deep rifts and changes around the world concerning the power of organized religions, sexual issues, power and control issues, etc. Terrorism is a Pluto phenomenon, Bush's 'crusade', power struggles between the religious groups... Wait till it goes into Capricorn. That will start to affect big business and governments. Things are being set up for it already. It's about midway through Sagitarius. Uranus just went into Pisces - sudden changes in spiritual issues. It could prompt numerous awakenings and the sudden demise or damage to spiritual systems, practitioners, and/or institutions, particularly when Pluto get's closer to Capricorn. What can't bend will break, but whatever can incorporate the sudden changes (Ur. and Pl. will square in the coming few years) can reach new levels.

I do think that SRF stopped growing in 1952, or there abouts. Coming from a much more progressive form of American Kriya, it's really easy to see the 50's still happening at SRF. I can point out endless examples of how SRF is manifesting "Old School", but most of you can figure that out. The Uranus and Pluto conjunction very specifically produced a transformation away from the past. Uranus, of course, represents the next astrological age, as it rules Aquarius. The aspect was exact in 1966. I'm not sure, but I think this was around the time that Daya Ma dug her heels in and it went down hill from there. Y'all know the history better than me. The Chicago Kriya Yoga Temple opened it's doors in 1969, and K. was teaching for a few years before that. Compared to SRF, we're a radical bunch, very not Kali-Yuga. I would hazard a guess that SRF represents a "new dispensation" far less... but that is just my opinion, of course. The "new dispensation" may have started in SRF, but then it stopped - in 1952.

etzchaim,

GREAT POST!!!

Thanx! I was hoping that someone a little more versed in astrology would chime in.

I am also getting more (and more) interested in "the other kriya" and I'll be in touch about that....

I once read in some new age book, I believe it was something from "The Great White Brotherhood" that the balance of "good and bad" planetary karma on earth shifted about the year 1966. In other words, since that year we have been on an upward swing where the positive is predominating (with some setbacks, of course, as you have mentioned.) Also, that in the late 50's there was a precarious situation in the world and at that time period many spiritual/enlightened (and I do not mean this probably in the same way srf does) souls started incarnating.

Having kids, I see alot of this "attention deficit" and other types of problems as perhaps a different type of mind that does not fit into the traditional learning setting. Many parents and people interested in new age concepts feel the same.

People are becoming more sensitive and psychic. Young people cannot be fooled and are not attracted to srf. They (srf) have failed to establish a connection with children, their parents and young people in general.

However, they don't seem to care and this will be their undoing.
