Transition to Daya Mata
There are some serious points on the DIF website about the transition from Master to Daya Mata. I was always lead to believe she was the chosen one and directly selected by Master even when he was alive. The discussion that the presidency was first offered to others, then there was an “election” by the board, and others on the board, like Dr. Lewis, got upset about the outcome, gives a completely different picture. Where did the information on that website come from?

Your are absolutely correct. There are very serious allegations made on this site concerning Daya Mata, and rightly so.

It is very important that one use his rational, thinking ability when considering this subject. We have been told, in SRF literature, that all the leaders of SRF have been chosen, long ago, by Babaji. Daya Mata inferred that she had been chosen by Yogananda as well. Yet, upon Yogananda's passing, Rajarsi was installed as president. Then, when Rajarsi passed, Durga Mata was the selection, however she declined the appointment. It wasn't until the political takeover and self installation by
Daya Mata, that she gained her present control (and the emphasis is on control.)

The story goes that every president would not only be written in the ether, but self-realized. There hasn't been
a trace of realization to be exhibited in the leadership since, at least, Rajarsi's passing. The organization is run by fear and guilt and severe control. These are all qualities which are are the exact opposite of love.

Yes, there is much to seriously consider here. All of the above is simply in the annals of SRF history. The implied spirituality in the leadership and the facts of the matter, simply do not gibe.

How did the president get selected (from DIF)
The following is taken from a letter from SRF to all students. It doesn’t sound like Daya Mata was pre-selected by Master to run SRF before his Mahasamadhi.

Quote:
March 7 1955
Dear Student:
We are pleased to announce that Sister Daya (Miss Faye Wright) was today elected president of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) of America and of Yogoda Sat-Sanga Society (YSS) of India. She succeeds the revered Rajasi Janakananda, who died on February 20, 1955.
Dr. M. W. Lewis, who was Master's’s first disciple in America, could not be considered for the office of president because of a rule made by Master, as follows: "After the death of Rajasi, all presidents of SRF must be unmarried" At the Board meeting on March 7th, Dr. Lewis therefore nominated Sister Daya for president. The motion was carried unanimously. Dr. Lewis, who is a member of the Board of Directors, is also vice-president of SRF.

Notice the rule doesn’t say they need to be nuns or even monastics. And they don’t need to be saints or God realized.

Re: How did the president get selected (from DIF)
The story I heard within the colony was that Ma Durga actively sought the presidency after Rajasi's passing, but was rebuffed in her efforts. This is very different from the way Ma Durga described the situation in her book.

Another different slant on things - one of the senior monks (who came after Guruji's passing) told a group of us that Yoganandaji said Mrinalini Ma had been a great saint for each of her last 7 incarnations. I remember thinking at the time, "Well then, why is she still on this earth plane?" But I would have been severely ostracized had I said that then. It made more sense when I read here that what was really said is that she had been a nun during her last 5 lifetimes. This seems more consistent with the behavior of the organization and its leaders.

Intuition, logic, and experience have told me for years that a number of things with SRF just weren't right. This board has helped me gain more clarity and a deeper understanding of the issues. It has also been comforting to know that I am not alone in my feelings and concerns. Thank you everyone.
