The Blessing Corner
Back in my Jr. High School days, I had a P.E. teadher who absolutely knew the value of having a place where you could work out your negative behavior. It was called "The Blessing Corner," and it was situated at the farthest end of the P.E. field -- at the end of the schood, in fact. You went there if you cussed or exhibited any other kinds of "innapropriate" behavoir ( I place that word in quotes because it seemed to me and my peers that there was no such thing as an inappropriate behavior -- things were either fun or not fun).

So Mr. W. had this neutral zone where you could say the nastiest things ever conjured in a human brain, and it was his hope that maybe, while you were doing it, your parents or a high standing member of society would by and caught you in the act of making a fool out of yourself. That fatal synchronicity never happened of course! But we made good use of that blessed corner. I, myself, visited it more time than I can remember. There's something healing about a good primal scream. Something refreshing about being a tiny ranting pinpoint bent on hellraising a unresponsive infinite void. I always walked getting some insight, feeling more spiritual than when I began. Perhaps my gym teacher knew something we didn't, and that's why he called it a blessing corner.

This message board is our little blessing corner in cyberspace. And we've had some good rants. But we've also had some critical ideas shared that haven't been given, in my opinion, enough group consideration. Speaking for myself, I jjust wish more people would read the articles at the "Core Issues" section and give some thoughtful feedback. I'd like to see more than the same 4 or 5 people getting on the wave. Do you want more tabloid on the bad ladies? Or do you prefer in depth analysis and discussion?

I want the latter. If I'm out of place, somebody tell me, and I'll pack up and leave. One big reason why I left SRF is that I was literally being stifled in my mental and emotional development. I feel this once again on this message board. Old ladies like to sit around and endlessly talk about their surgeries, what others did to them....you know...gossip ad nauseum. If you ever ask an old lady what it all means, her mind goes blank. Zilch!

But we are men. Let us take out our sabers and have at it fiercely with the ideas that matter. If we are going to talk about core issues, let's cut to the core. And not alone, but together....

All for one, and one for all!!!
Any joiners?

The blessing corner sounds like a good concept -- thanks for sharing it. In regard to your feeling stifled by what is going down on this board, I am sorry to hear it. I can relate, having felt stifled and insufficiently stimulated more than once in my life.
But I must share with you that I felt devalued by part of what I read in your post. For one thing, we are not all men. Some of us are women. And some of us may one day be the old ladies you disparaged, talking about our aches and pains and surgeries. Old age happens to the best of us, you know. And the seemingly endless carping that was so hard to cope with in our youth become somewhat more comprehensible when we find ourselves first confronted by a painful and uncooperative body. Ranting and carping, though hard to listen to, serves its purpose. Helps us to cope with change.
Didn't mean to go on and on about aging and being female, but obviously my buttons got pushed.

Dear Been There,

My profoundest apologies and a hug.

I definitely want to push some buttons. I'm trowling for negative attention : evil I'm dismayed in the disproportionate amount of postings which rant in preference to examining the core issues.

I honestly believe that expressing emotions is very healthy. And a good rant releases opiates in the brain and helps us cope with the pain of change. But existing in perpetual reaction to a problem doesn't create the actual change. I need to find some company in this department. You yourself reacted to my instigating post. Do you care to comment on any of the discussions we've had on whether the teachings are safe? on the issue of self-acceptance and SRF? on basing the teachings on sound research? on the war of personality types in SRF? All this has been liberally spread on the table but few have joined the feast.

Thank you for your kindness.
When the muse moves, I will be happy to post about these issues.
