I have the pamphet (sorry about the spelling) called world crisis where Yogananda talks about the US and India being together fighting some war. With the current Pakistan / India situation it sounds like there might be trouble brewing. Does anyone have any information on the predictions made by Yogananda (in regards to this war ) or any other Yogananda predictions you would like to share with us.

Okay, here goes:

1. In one of the compilations of Yogananda's talks (probably either The Divine Romance or Man's Eternal Quest, he explicitly "prophecies" that one day the people of North America will be dark-skinned, and those of Asia will be light-skinned.

2. Once heard this, after a service at Hidden Valley, from one of the devotees there: he claimed that one of the senior monastics (Bhaktananda, I think) had told him that PY once said that if America were ever at war and losing badly...aliens (yes, the ones in spaceships, not cheap labor from Mexico) would intervene to help out. Third-hand information, haven't heard it anywhere else, take it however you like.

Not prophecies, but interesting anyway:

1. Yogananda claimed to be the reincarnation of William the Conqueror and William Shakespeare. (Check out photos of Shakespeare vs. PY, and there's definitely a facial resemblance. Sorry, didn't mean to bring up the whole "Erskine" thing.)

2. Dr. Lewis was believed to be the reincarnation of Sir Francis Bacon.

3. Tara Mata was supposedly the reincarnation of Leonardo da Vinci. Tough to reconcile with the uninsightful quality of her writing--notwithstanding that she had a polished non-fiction writing and editing style, which should never have been brutally applied to any work of poetry. But then, as far as differences from one life to the next go, Shakespeare didn't shirk from punning on slang terms for the female reproductive organs, so who knows.

The book Shakespeare's Bawdy goes into detail on William's use of sex and profanity in his plays...including puns on the F-word. (Don't feel guilty about reading it; it's just a commentary on the "works of the guru" in his previous life, right? And even PY encouraged us to read Shakespeare! So why not understand it, too?) So even if the Erskine thing isn't true--and I still hope it isn't--there's more to the PY story than they taught us in Sunday School.

Anonymous is correct -- I was present once during a satsang at Hollywood Temple when Bhaktananda said Master predicted aliens would come to the aid of America in the next world war. He also once said that there are aliens presently on earth (presumably in human form).
He was, as always, so low-key that after the service people outside were asking one another, "Did Brother say what I think he said???"

I have also heard Bhaktananda mention aliens. I don't remember the human form specifically mentioned. Bhak is totally uninterested in these kinds of things, in my opinion, and he may even be interpreting something Master said (maybe incorrectly).

I am trying to remember the story about Master showing some nuns some aliens while out on a picknic to share on the Yogananda stories section of this board. Does anyone remember it? Maybe I dreamed it?

Wow- this is a very strange element that I've never read or heard about before within SRF. Aliens? And as a story passed on by Brother Bhaktananda? Wow oh wow.

I would love to hear more input by people in the know on this one. Not that it means much to changing myself- that is the real work on this path. But just when I think I've heard it all...

My understanding of the story that I heard was that a nun had asked Master about the existence of UFOs and if they existed. On an outing he called one down for her to see. After she had seen it he told her, "Now forget it. Not all of them are benevolent."

Of course, this was an umpteenth-hand retelling, so I cannot be sure what the original was. Take it with a grain of salt, or if you have high blood pressure, some other seasoning.

The following story I have heard in the last year or two, twice from a man who was with PY numerous times, including a birthday celebration, a meal, and a week before WWII at retreat at mother center (most probably in the 30's).
Never was the word aliens used, so he was speaking of astral/casual I assume.
During a week as a householder on retreat this man, EM and others, were on the first floor of mother center listening to music PY loved. PY was with them. He directed their gaze to an area and said others have joined us. EM saw no one and wasn't aware thast anyone did except PY.
This comment may not belong is this thread.
EM is reluctant at times to speak of his PY memories, while at other times he seems to relive them.
EM is now about 87. As a youth he attended Hollywood in the 30's. One visit to get a medical check up left him with the diagnosis that he had a heart problem. After PY's talk Sunday at Hollywood he waited and was the last to see PY privately that afternoon. He told PY, "My heart is bad!" PY after a period of silence, said, "I see nothing wrong with your heart!"
Now almost 90 and still with no heart trouble.

The nun to whom the ET's were called was Mrinalini Mata.

Mukti Ma (not Tara Ma) is the alledged reincarnation of Leonardo.

We even had Van Gogh for awhile, but he left, crazy as ever.

There are many other stories of the phenom. world being exposed, but I fail to see what possible difference it makes...

A lot of stuff doesn't make a difference in the bigger picture of life. My few messages are mainly complaints about SRF and their treatment of people. These complaints will probably not make much difference. They do get some things off my chest.

Learning a few interesting facts, even if they are only tabloid level facts, are at least entertaining! Where else are these "facts" recorded for people? Where else but this Walrus site!

According to Kriyananda, see his book "The Path", PY revealed that Winston Churchill was Napoleon. Hitler was Alexander the Great, Mussolini was Marc Anthony, and Stalin was Gengis Khan. SK himself asked PY, "Who was Franklin Roosevelt?" "I've never told anybody," PY would have replied, "with a wry smile". "I was afraid I'd get into trouble!"

Apsaras, well said.

This site has taught me quite a good deal about spotting people with emotional and mental issues they DO NOT want to work out, prefering to project them onto others and separating those people from the sincere people who are simply trying to work out some of their issues.

Things may move a bit more above board, so to speak on the Walrus, but I'm still lurking for a while. I'm still checking my in-box periodically (which is why I'm logged on today).

Etz, still wondering what circumcision has to do with the "Christ and SRF" theme (see forum in other section of Walrus elaborated on by same individuals)... and mourning the loss of her tonsils, wisdom teeth, and other body parts that have been removed (why did they do that me!!!!????)... seriously.... :rollin

I've heard that Jesus was circumcized...mabe that's it!!! 8)

People say a lot.
But who needs predictions?
A lot of PY's predictions never came to flourish.
He admired Hitler and Mussonlini so obviously even he coulnd't see them coming, so with all due respect, who cares about his predictions? I know I don't. This does not at all lessen my respect for him.
The future is ever in flux and can't be accurately predirected.
He predicted an ecomical world-crisis in that pamphlet. It's more than 50 now and we're still waiting. I have no clue why SRF is still publishing that fear-instilling pamphlet.
But eventually of course there will be a crisis and then SRF, if it still exists, will say:'See, he said so'.
