 Democracy? That's funny!
Hello,

An older thread here and I hope someone will keep it alive. SRF isn't democratic and doesn't want it to be. There's no democracy in politics either--it's a facade, an ideal never realized.

In my local meditation group experience, new ideas were at best tolerated. Any mention of democracy was met with wry smiles then, "ok, we have to listen because it's the spiritual thing to do, but could you hurry up so we can do what WE want and deem the best". I'd like to participate in a group that isn't a MC clone.

There's also this cache thing...Hidden Valley residents now out, long-time devotees who name drop, ex monastics now in local groups are deferred to.

Nobody wants to serve either. Every election was a bear. No nominations, no one showing up for elections, no interest. Same people rotating coordinator, secretary, treasurer, managing council. Same readers and harmonium players. A sick, closed loop. Mousy devotees kept in the pen by the big dogs.
