Babaji
Does anyone know why He is now "dressed"?

Dressed
The same reason Lahari Mahasaya is dressed now. But who knows what exactly that is. SRF is very concerned about their image and maybe they feel the general public is not capable of seeing them that way.

An excuse might be that the not-dressed state might drive people away from getting the Lessons, etc... Harming their spiritual life.

OK OK, I know. It doesn't compare to what the abusive treatment by the "bad ladies" does to peoples spiritual lives, but most don't know about that treatment.

Babaji Dress-Up Doll
Jeez ladies, if you want to go mainstream put Babaji in a business suit and give him a haircut!

Dressed or Not?
Back in the late 60's the monks at the temple told us that "this path isn't for everyone," and further, "we never prosletize (sp)". Meaning that those who are drawn to Master and the teachings are those who they are right for, and those who aren't, well, that's fine too.

But then came the desire to be all things to all people. Krishna took a spot on the altar. Babaji was dressed. Pictures were airbrushed to alter Christian symbols Master or Rajasi were wearing. Master own signature was forged.

Now who knows what's next.

After many years in the ashram and longer in SRF I found it extremely disconcerting when Krishna's picture was updated, when Babaji was dressed, etc. I felt hurt. One of the questions that (irrationally) popped into my head was, "Have I been worshipping the wrong Krishna?" As silly as that question seemed, I felt close to the former version of Krishna. I know this may seem like a silly limiting attachment but I felt married to Him. It's like going to sleep one night with your wife, say a blond, and waking up the next day and she's a redhead and 50lbs heavier. The changes that kept happening forced me to look more and more within and less to the organization. Like you mentioned, who knows what's next.

Inner Attunement served here
All things must pass....

On one level, these changes tweek me, too. I find them humorous. Ultimately, however, it is my inner attunement to these masters that matters, not what they look like! The organization's changes further serve to remind me to let go of outer attachments and to go within. Seek Sadhana and Satsang. Om

St. Theresa of Avila paraphrased: "Let nothing disturb you, nothing afright you. All things will pass, but God changes not.
Patience, endurance, brings you to victory. Once you have God, you'll want nothing more!
God Alone!"

Now You See It.......and Now You ---See It Differently
George Orwell, in his novel "1984," writes a brilliant passage describing unexpected change from on high. In this scene, the inhabitants of Oceania (one of the three superstates: Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia) are attending a hate rally orchestrated against their five-year enemy, Eurasia. Calling it "Hate Week," they put as much attention and care into its preparation as SRF devotees would a Convocation. Then the Inner Party pulls a surprising switch on the people in order to keep them in a state of permanent confusion.....

"The speech had been proceeding for perhaps twenty minutes when a messenger hurried onto the platform and a scrap of paper was slipped into the speaker's hand. He unrolled and read it without pausing in his speech. Nothing altered in his voice or manner, or in the content of what he was saying, but suddenly the names were different. Without words said, a wave of understanding rippled through the crowd. Oceania was at war with Eastasia!....The orator, still gripping the neck of the microphone, his shoulders hunched forward, his free hand clawing at the air, had gone straight on with his speech....."

".....The thing that impressed Winston in looking back was that the speaker had switched from one line to the other actually in mid sentence, not only without a pause, but without even breaking the syntax."

The crosses
I hear you regarding the new Krishna picture. Although I like the new one (made to look more like Babaji?), I found the old one so sweet--that's a Krishna you can really fall in love with!

I've always been concerned about the airbrushing out of the crosses from the pictures of Master and Rajarsi. My understanding is that this was done so as to not alienate the Indian devotees. Correct me if I am wrong. That seems way weird in so many ways. Score one for public relations (?!)

Re: The crosses
Can anyone show me a link to the OLD Krishna picture as compared to the new one. I didn't know they changed Krishna's picture, and I didn't ever see a picture where they dressed Babaji. They have the same pictures on the altar as always, right?

And I have a picture from the nineties of Master and Rajasi and he is wearing his cross. This stuff sounds strange that I'm hearing about SRF airbrushing Master's photos with Rajasi.

Why is SRF getting suddenly so extremely tight. I think it was when I enetered SRF in 91, when they were just in the beginning stages of clamping down. When I first came to SRF, I did so with the impression that kriya would help me find my own unique connection with the Lord and that He could be in my life any aspect I yearn for and that I would have the right to treasure that and grow in that. It makes it really tough when nowadays, they are so ardentlly almost trying on the outer level in a very Judeo Christian protestant sense to keep us away from Images and they do this by trying to make everything exactly the same with absolutely no distractions--unless it's "sanctioned and approved" by SRF.

Re: links
Thanks Mangoboy

Specifically where can I find a picture of Babaji dressed? I have never in my life seen one. One of my best friends adores Babaji so much and I'd really like to see what Babaji says to her when I send her a picture of Babaji dressed.

Please specifically show me a picture of Babaji dressed.

Thanks
:rollin
