I hear the Mother Center location now has a big sign above the main gate that reads:

We extend our prayers to all

Would someone give me a cynical check? It seems they may be taking advantage of this terrible disaster to try and look to the community like a church full of caring people?

I can’t believe I just said that. I can’t believe I really do believe that!

When the leadership lives their lives with such distain for personal liberty and with such disrespect for integrity, not to mention treating people with such mental cruelty, I can’t believe they would be willing to make such a public statement. Such hypocrisy knows no equal.

Come on! Even the devil can pray! And though they are his agents at times in their attitudes and behavior, they are angels as well.
Why shouldn't they pray for others? However misguided or dualistic or inconsistent in their approach grant them some goodwill!

I do! - in spite of SRF double standards. I don't live my life in a perfect way either and though I don't explain away how they treat devotees,monx, ex-monx, etc. I don't hate them that much either.... well, at times... I feel upset, betrayed, used, tossed in a corner by them and I am glad I can point out their behavior on this board. I certainly stopped giving money and time. I am expressing my criticism but my God, let's try to be somewhat objective!
I have some monastic friends living at M.W. and they are as shocked as we are by the terrorist attacks!

I was thinking today: Dwapare is not considered a "high age" at all in the Indian scriptures. I don't believe SRF is going to uplift humanity out of the dark ages that much... not because of kriya is not effective or because of some freaked out/ controlling old women in charge... but because few are going to really upply it to their lives (monastic included!) and because it will happen gradually.
Right now SRF is just mirroring a lot of Kali Yuga behavior and it is inevitable considering it all.
They do some good, they do inspire a lot of people, they keep some pretty gardens open to the public for everyone to enjoy (well , we all paid for that but I know... Iknow...) , Yogananda's books are published...
If they want to pray and show it to a community they have untagonized for 5 years now... let them do it, who are we to judge that?
