Defense of Bro. Satyananda
Satyananda is getting criticized on this board but I can say one thing in his defense. Last year when several men were fired under questionable circumstances and everyone got so concerned about it, he was asked to go to the Publications Center and tell the people there to “stop talking about it”. He refused. He felt he would have no credibility left if he did so. Eventually Bro. Vishwananda accepted the assignment, also making the same speech to the monks at mother center (with a lawyer present).

Todd White aka Satyananda
Dear Deep,

I have lived with Todd (Satyananda) for 15 years. You give him too much credit. First and foremost, he is motivated by the desire for personal power. He gets that power through political manipulation. Refusing to speak at the publications center because he would "loose credibility" only serves to demonstrate my point. He is smart, no doubt about that. Don't mistake a shrewed political move for spiritual character. He is a politician wrapped in an ochre robe.

Many of us who have lived with him find him to be arrogant, manipulative and bigoted.

True Story Examples:

Bigotry: Once at a Fullerton Temple luncheon he told an African American devotee that her lack of hunger was no doubt due to having eaten watermelon before coming.

Manipulative: The Spiritual Life Committe had been given authority over the ashram that was previously Todd's. So he spearheaded a campaign to end the Spiritual Life Committee. This campaign influenced the Directors by manipulating facts, stating half-truths and accusing the other monks on the Spiritual Life Committee of being Judases.

Arrogant: Once Daya Mata told Todd that members had complained of his demeaning behavior towards them. She guided him to reflect on his behavior. Todd later told other monastics that he had reflected on Daya Ma's concern and concluded that it was only the devotees' insecurity that caused them to feel he was demeaning and that it had nothing to do with him.

These are just a few examples. There are many, many more.

HA HA HA... The Watermelon story was RICH. HA HA. I believe it!

I suppose PostMonk has moved on...

I heard Tood was shipped to the moon for something... Anyone ever find out what he did or where he ended up?

PostMonk, you said it all. I just wanted to post my agreement with you. For many years we had to put up with that arrogant ass.

SayItIsntSo heard that Todd was shipped to the moon. That would be too good to be true. (Chuckle).
