Looking for Kriya Yoga ashrams
Hi boys, hi girls...

Im a little swiss guy reading a lot in this forum. It is really interesting. Thank you!

Since years I would like to live a monastic life, but so far I could not do that because I had some duties in the world.
Time passed and now Im really thinking about withdraw for some years.

Who knows kriya yoga ashrams / centers somewhere in the world where it is possible to stay. Im willing to work a lot.
Who knows places to live, work, help and meditate?

Thanks a lot

Re: Looking for Kriya Yoga ashrams
'Ello Ollie,
Personally, I only know of one place where you can work and meditate, and that's the Hidden Valley ashram of SRF in Escondido, CA. I know the place has met with some criticism on this board, and in the past, I would have heartily agreed, but the management has changed, and the people in charge are alot nicer than than in the past, so I'd recommend looking into it. It's strictly SRF, which has also gotten (deservedly) a bad rap in this forum, but HV is far-removed from the SRF centers of power, and things are alot more relaxed there, at least nowadays. The satsangs that Bro. Dharmananda gives have met with acclaim by both residents at HV as well as local male devotees who come to hear him on friday morning. There's time for private and group meditation every day, and there are some very serious meditators there. The work is generally not too onerous (unlike in the past), and the residents get more respect nowadays. So I would give it a pretty good report, and suggest that you at least give them a call/email. One definite negative is the fact that it gets hot has freaking HELL there in the summer, and you being from Svitzerland, that might make it difficult for you, if not impossible. If they had air conditioning, that'd be different, but they don't. Personally, I can't even go out there for July, August, and September. Anyway, that's one suggestion. God bless.
Stan
