That is in interesting view point he has. People leave SRF for all kinds of reasons, just like monastics leave the ashram for all kinds of reasons. It is my feeling that most find it is not what they thought it was going to be. In the sad cases they buy into the idea that they can’t cut it. They are not good enough or spiritual enough or blah blah blah. Very sad cases.

I don’t know why he left but it could have been for a good reason and/or family problems. Sometimes health problems by a family member cause them to leave.

I think he is well aware that most ex-monastics (as well as many current monastics) would or do support this site. That is why he felt the need the Walrus people know he was not like that. Members at his temple or center were probably making comments to him assuming the same thing. He is still loyal! He wants to belong!
