Durga Mata
The DIF website has information on Durga Mata. She was a long time devotee. She used to see members from the Los Angeles area for years and years. I know many people who used to see her on a regular basis. One tells me the story of how SRF eventually quit putting calls to her through, cutting her off to people. Really weird. The same person told me how a nun came up to them and said “Wouldn’t you rather talk to Daya Mata?”.

Here is the web page about her. I know there is a book out about her too.

Quote:
From DIF site:
After the passing of Rajasi, a member of the Board of Directors came to Sri Durga Mata and asked her if she would assume the presidency. Ma, had good reason to believe that her time on this planet was not to be long and suggested that a younger person in better health would be a more appropriate choice. She turned the Presidency down. If you had known her one would have realized that Ma was not at all impressed with this over embellished concept of Presidency that exists today.

I appreciate your thoughful reply. Actually, I've read just about everything there is on Durga Mata; plus I've met Joan, her long time helper. I've been acquainted with several people attached to her and once spent a few hours with her and another devotee on the rooftop apartment. Still, there is a piece of the puzzle that no one is talking about. I believe that there could be a link between Durga Ma's ostracism and what we're going through. It has to do with termperaments, and so I'd like to get a better picture of the psychological dynamics. So, if anybody has real insight into this, fess up. Time is a'flying.

Durga Mata
Since I am not inside someone soul, I have no idea what the real rational was to ostracize Durga Mata.

What I can tell you is that hate is not the opposite of love, it is the shadow side of love. Fear is the opposite of love. Love expand, gives, shared expands. Fear holds in, contracts, hoards. It is a fact that SRF constructively banished Ma (Durga). The banishment is by definition an act of fear.

Here SRF had a jewel which Yogananda acknowledge as being what most everyone was trying to achieve, and they hid her from sight so no one would know. The ones who made this decision are not people who care about others. It is unconsiousable that anyone would not do anything to hinder and not encourage the God within us all.

Ma (Durga) was real. She was down to earth and practical. She was incredibly powerful. She made the ones in power look silly. There is a wonderful picture of her in a board meeting with the rest of the head of SRF. Ma’s eyes were like firry coals, it was written all over her. I myself was only allowed to meet Durga Mata once while she was alive. Our relationship was limited to weekly sometimes daily phone conversations from 1981 through 1990. After 1990 till Durga death in 1993 I would send her notes most every weekend when I would go to Mt. Washington, because her phone was off. In the last 3 year almost no one got to see her. It was even hard for Joan.

Although I am very out spoken, I had to zip my lip when Ma was alive. If one tried to confront SRF on anything, and SRF thought it was coming from our association with Durga, they would make her life miserable for our behavior. So as long as she was alive, one had to play it very low key.

If SRF could have banished Durga Mata she was someone who knew that what they were doing was not in keeping with Yogananda. She was aware of the fact that the SRF corporate bylaws stated that the 3rd presided would be elected by the board. Durga was aware that the presidency has been offered to her. She was aware that Daya Mata was not the chosen one at lease by Yogananda. Board of Director yes, but not Yogananda. She was aware that Yogananda did not leave behind a church where all renunciates had Indian names. It wasn’t till 1958, after his Holiness came from India, that all the monastic had Indian names. There were only six monastic that Yogananda gave names to. Yogananda never knew Fay Wright as Daya Mata. Yogananda did not give the name Daya Mata to Fay Wright. Yogananda did not come to start a new church, but to give Kriya to the world that everyone might be come a better Hindu, Christian etc. SRF is rewriting history ( a Mormon trait) The concept of small self sustaining colonies has been totally left out of the writings for it does not support the world class organization of today. It was Durga’s belief that some of the material in the books that Daya Mata puts under her name were the notes from Yogananda’s dictations.

One has to remember that when the attempt by SRF to make Durga Ma leave, failed, Daya Mata then told Durga Mata that they were sending her to India, (since they failed to make her leave.) Durga refused. So what do you do with someone you have failed to banish. What do you do with someone that you can not control. Since SRF controlled the other monastic, they made her off limits. SRF lock Durga Ma away so nobody and find out the Truth. Now SRF is free to rewrite history, with them as Yogananda’s representatives.

Many are asking what they can do. We need to get the Truth of Yogananda out and preserve for all to come in the future. We need to keep the history pure for all future generations to come. That was suppose to be the job that SRF was to perform for Yogananda on his behalf. Before they got lost. So I ask each an every one of you to collect all you can of all the old works. IF SRF fail to proved a library for all then we must do that.

One of the projects that we are working on is the cross comparison of all the different works of Yogananda from version to version. We want everyone to be able to see what changes have been made to the writings so that they can then decide for themselves (and not have to take my word or anyone else’s) if the changes were warranted or slanted.

Dakota, thanks a million for your informative message on Durga. It was just the kind of insight I've been looking for.

I encourage everyone reading this message to support Dakota in the cross comparitive research. Gather, read, put the pieces together before time is lost.

Hey, are you the author of srf-diff.org? That was my first inroad to all these discoveries. If so, Bravo for being the first to take the time. I hope one day all of us on this site can meet and share the richness we've discovered on this path.

Practical
Dakota,
What can we do. How can we help? Should we send you text or can you give us things to compare? Help getting the word out or help posting the information somewhere?
