Richard Wright
Whatever happened to Richard Wright, Daya Mata's brother who went to India with Yogananda? It seems after the high profile he achieved in the Autobiography, he just dropped totally out of sight for the next sixty years or so. Is he still in SRF? Does he attend services and functions? Has anyone seen him? Other than a short mention in the magazine a few years ago, it's as if he just dematerialized.

Re: Richard Wright
A post on the www.yogananda.net site appeared yesteday saying that Richard Wright had just passed away sometime this week. I don't know if it is true, you might want to check the site, it's on 'board one.'

He gave an interview to Yoga International magazine a few years ago. He is/was an engineer at an aerospace company, still a devotee of PY's and living the householder life. I think the interview was excerpted in the SRF magazine.

Hope that helps.

He did pass away last night: January 9. He had been living in Encinitas for the last year, being taken care of full time by a monk. He was still alert and aware, although unable to speak or communicate much towards the end.

This directly from a SRF Brother who knows personally.

It seems strange how he faded into obscurity after his 15 minutes of fame in the AY, never to be heard from or seen again. Everyone else in the family is so involved in SRF, and he once was too, and then he just dropped out. Or so it seemed. Did he attend temple or serve anywhere in any capacity? Was he ever spotted or sighted at any SRF place or function? Seems he was intentionally anonymous, like he didn't want to be seen or linked with SRF in any way.

Clue
His absense may have been a clue if we had only seen it. When his sister took over in the 1950's maybe he didn't feel much need to stay involved?

He did show up for convocation once in a while, but only for his sisters talks.

Re: Clue
I saw him one morning at Lake Shrine at 9:00am sunday many many years ago. I didn't know who it was. He was a white haired man whose energy seemed really high. I wanted to talk to him but I stayed back. He had come there with another person.
About a year later they released a film that had his picture in it. That is how I knew who it was.

Re: Clue
For those of you who did not know Richard Wright, he arrived with his sisters and mother, and was the manager of Mt Washington in the early 1930's. He was in no way a religious figure. He was thrilled to travel with Yogananda as secretary during the return to India. He came back to much the same position upon their return. He was entrusted with the management of the SRF funds at that time. I never saw him after that period.
