Arrogant Myths - The Myth of Training

Another powerful myth and control tool of SRF management’s is the manipulation of the concept of “training”. Weird rules, waste, abuse, and downright meanness can be expressed and excused because of this powerful concept. Someone can be mistreated, lied about, even physiologically abused, and the poor victim is “just being trained”. It is a great excuse. Imagine being in a position where you can treat people anyway you want to! The power of that myth does corrupt the user of it, even when the person wielding it tries to meditate.

The unfortunate thing about the Myth of Training, and the thing that makes it so powerful, is that it is of course true. When a child is slapped by its father for being restless, that child probably did deserve it if you viewed the grand scale of karma. The child should learn to behave. If a black man is pulled over and beaten by the police for a traffic violation that becomes more difficult to rationalize with the Myth. But again, looking deeply the myth still works. That person’s karma drew them to that moment and in the grand scheme they needed that experience. And the poor SRF accounting department employee who is physiologically abused for simple mistakes of course deserves it too and the Myth of Training applies.

But of course that is a trap of logic and doesn’t really work does it. It certainly doesn’t excuse the behavior of the problem people in these stories. But if you can work behind closed doors, keep these behaviors secret, and push the Myth as hard as you can, it can and is used to good effect.

There are two problems generated by the Myth of Training. The first problem is the effect on SRF management using the myth in the SRF environment. SRF management is assumed by many (including themselves) to be a direct channel from Master so they are then in a position where the training comes thru them from Master. In addition the Training was required to “help the person” (i.e. they deserve it). This means they have no responsibility for their actions! This gives SRF authorities supreme power and is tremendously corrupting. The ability to act anyway they want and say anything they want turns them into disappointing people. And those positions of power have attracted the wrong kinds of people for the wrong reasons.

The second problem is the impact on the poor person being “trained”. As they find themselves “deserving” worse and worse treatment from people assumed to be direct channels (or representatives of the direct channels) their self esteem is hurt more and more and more. Depression and a feeling of helplessness and worthlessness often results, especially after years and years of it.

This is one of the main problems this board should address.
