Brother Satyananda
A friend says they are confused by the criticism of Brother Satyananda. He has worked with many of the teens in the area and been a big help to many of them. They don't see that he is so bad. What is the problem?

Satyananda
You asked what is wrong with Satyananda? Having been in the ashram with him for a few years, I can tell you that he is very arrogant, self-serving and political,
unlike most of the other monks who are caring, loving souls. They are, unfortunately, under the thumb of this man and a few others like him. If I had children under his direction, I would be very concerned.

Satyananda and Priya
They can talk the talk, and read back things they have read. They can be concerned-looking and put up a very good public show. That is why they are out in the public eye. Their actions, however, are much different inside the ashram. The worst kind of hypocrisy is that done pretending it is done to protect God’s work.

I don’t doubt that they helped your child. They are familiar with the teachings and the teenagers are no threat to them. They love being rock stars and the attention is flattering and fun. However, I would think that just reading the Lessons would do as much, or better yet, have them talk to someone else.
