Daya Mata's Cadillac
Personally I don't care how she got her cadillac, and don't see it as a problem, but I am curious if anyone knows how it came about that she got it. She has had it for years. Was it a gift for something she did, a donation specifically for her or just a general donation? Was it new when she got it?

Re: Daya Mata's Cadillac
Pure speculation on my part, but here goes. I just finished combing the second edition of the extensive Elvis Presley biography (don't recall the author and I already returned the book back to the library) for any mention of his involvement with SRF and Daya Mata.

There were quite a few mentions of his interest in, and time spent with both the ministers at Lake Shrine (Br. Adolph) and Daya Mata at Mt. Washington. He grew to be very close to Daya Mata, telling her that she reminded him of his own mother, and she apparently had much time to receive him and his frequent phone calls during the late 60's and early 70's.

One story mentions that Daya Mata was touched by him phoning and tracking her down in India to check on whether she was o.k. after he'd seen a report of a massive earthquake in India. They had a rather close association, he wanted to have cosmic consciousness but didn't want to have to do all that work which she assured him was most necessary to obtain the results.

As Elvis was well known to give Cadillac's to his friends, and those who he loved, maybe he could have been the source for her's?

I too don't think that this is that big of a deal. Today a Cadillac is just another car, more expensive perhaps, but still, it isn't a Mercedes, a Lexus, or any of the like. After all she is in a position of prestige and she can't represent that showing up in a 10 year old Ford Tiempo with rusting paint, now can she?

I hear Mokshananda tell the story of his arrival at Mt. Washington, just a few days before the death of the Master. He participated in bowing down with the other monk's as PY made his way from the elevator toward the front door to his awaiting car. After patting Mokshananda on the head and saying a few words about loyalty to him, PY headed down the stairs to the car and got in. As the monks assembled on the porch to watch PY leave, Mokshananda thought to himself that it was surprising to see PY riding in a new car. Just then, so Mokshananda told us, the car stopped just at the bottom of the circular driveway, and began to back up to the porch where PY lowered the window, leaned his head out and said, "don't worry about it Mr. Standing, it was a gift!"
