Bugged Phones
I was also told, and even read here on the Walrus, that management sometimes bugs phones of employees and monastics to make sure of their loyalty. Can anyone say if this is really true and who might have the authority to order something like that?

I myself heard from a senior monk that he felt his phone was tapped sometimes but had no proof. That shocked me. It may not be true but what does it say about the environment that a senior monk throught the organization was capable of it!

Re: Bugged Phones
Reliabe former inmates (monastics) have told me that Brother Viryananda is in charge of telephone communications and was listening in on phone conversations of monastics. Messages were received by monastics whose phone conversations were not approved by authorities. It would seem that telecom department at Mother Center would be free to listen in to whatever conversation it wants to hear.
