I am sure you have the sympathies of every SRF householder who knew you, and of plenty of monastics too. If you need help in any way please send me email via this board and I'll keep it anonymous. If there is a silver lining, it is that anyone who considers having anything to do with Self Realization Fellowship will learn about this thanks to this board and hopefully realize what SRF has become. Let all spiritual seekers who think of assisting SRF or even becoming SRF monastics, learn from this and stay clear of SRF and all it has become. If they'd kick out someone after 35 years of being a monastic on the SRF "airplane route" to God then what will they do to others. Perhaps she could explain why they've covered up so much early history and whitewashed Master's image to the extent that we don't even know him unless we start reading other accounts. Like us all, SRF is simply reaping what they sow. People who work there say the prevailing ethic is confusion and fear, not love. I would be curious to know how people think monastics in the ashram are serving God, Master or anyone else. They live in their own world serving NO ONE. It is the most selfish self-centered place you can imagine. Taking 50 years to publish the gita was service? A small handful of themgiving lectures once a week is a life of service? I understand that the myth of service by monastics is strong. But go ahead, ask some of them how they are serving God. Working in accounting is service? Lots of people work in accounting. Creating a magazine is service? Lots of people work on magazines. You probably can't even describe the work that most of the nuns do. It involves monitoring members and fellow monastics, power plays among themselves and attending meetings to maintain vise-like control of everything that happens. Where is the service? Most people ASSUME they lead a life of service because the details are so secret and because most people really don't much think about it. Your average automobile dealership, which might sponsor a boy scout troop, socker team or some charity, does more service to mankind and God. Think people, think. If they understand why there would be strong interest in why such a public and respected monastic is "outside of SRF at this time," and they seriously feel that there's nothing secret about it, maybe they would publicly urge him to explain it. Paramadas Registered User (6/26/05 9:14 pm) Reply	Re: restoration of page one of mitra thread tx to Landseal Hello all, Thanks to Landseal's timely backup of the Walrus board, which he has kindly shared with me via a winrar file, I've been able to restore at least the first page of the Mitrananda thread, which was destroyed by those !@#$%^& hackers. I'll try in future to find the other pages, but I'm not sure whether I'll be successful. As you will see, there were six pages altogether before the crash. Wish me luck. P. The rumor/gossip/whatever is that Mitrananda will be coming back to SRF soon, in March of 2006 or a bit before. So that makes two monks in a row whom SRF has lost and then regained (the other one was Sevananda who left for all of one day. One of the monks is a longtime friend of mine, and he has a really sarcastic sense of humor. He said that probably what happened was that Sevananda woke up the day after quitting, went to get his breakfast, realized that he'd have to make his own breakfast for the rest of his life, and said, "Oh no, this simply won't DO" and returned to SRF. Back to Mitra---if he returns, the anti-SRF folks will have some back-peddling to do (they're up to the task, I'm sure). Unfortunately, having Mitra back in body may not the the same as having him back in spirit too. I've spoken occasionally to Bro. Devananda, who once was a young firebrand who wanted SRF to change, and his efforts were squashed by the BOD. He now hides out at Hidden Valley as much as possible, and gives every indication of feeling like a whipped puppy. Poor fellow, didn't have the moxie to stand up to the BOD and leave (and stay left). Mitra's got a very strong constitution, but during the year prior to his departure, his behavior was getting increasingly erratic, so I'm not sure what sort of person SRF will be getting back. Time will tell.
