Yes I did see the postings. I will do a chart for you. I'm in the early stages of deciding how to approach doing this professionally. I had tried earlier, but for some reason people thought I was fortune-teller. Go figure. ;)

First, YellowBeard would like to start off by saying that if you've never run into a spiritual practitioner before that has spoken in third person as a practice of subduing the ego, then your exposure to different spiritual practices has been on the limited side. Even Daya Mata speaks in third person.

So if you speak in third person as a spiritual practice, and then say 'even Daya Mata speaks in third person', does that mean that... no, it can't be... you're Daya now speaking in third person? Then who's on first (to quote Abbot and Costello)? I think I'll go ask Alice, this is all getting too surreal for me....maybe Yellowbeard is right (oh no, am I now Yellowbeard speaking in third person?)....who am I?....these tricksy hobbitses are out to get smeagle.....I think this practice is starting to work.....third person, fourth person, my ego is dissolving, or expanding.......I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together......OH MY GOD.... I AM THE WALRUS!!!!....or am I the eggman.....Goo goo g' joob....

No, I barely have the time to post here as it is. And I woke up this morning and realized that I'm not the walrus either- must have been that speaking-in-the-third-person-as-a-spiritual-practice confusing/dissolving my ego.........

Debate Challenge
Thatpilgrim,

You gonna keep hiding behind personal insults, or can you come out and debate YellowBeard on the issues of your guru worship? What kind of devotee are you where you can't even defend your guru directly? Is this the best you can do to defend the honor of your guru?

How's this to start things off -- You plaster your face on the floor before your long list of gurus, what do you think you're going to gain by doing that?

Let's see what you've got. Bring it on. Or are you too scared for a direct debate? Perhaps you can just throw a few more insults and then run off ...

Re: Women in Power and Speaking in Third Person
That Pilgrim,

Okay, I believe you. It just sounded like another post, one that OneTaste made. Let me find it and come back.

Here are the two posts, and maybe it is just me who thinks you sound alike:

OneTaste: “ooh, I know stuff that is sooo bad, if only I could reveal it. But I can’t. Oh, if only I could. But I can’t. Ok, here’s some inference, innuendo, and hearsay, but the really good stuff, well, oh, if only you knew. But I can’t tell you.

I’m not going to write anything else about Y anymore. But if I was, it would sound like this and this and this. I wouldn’t want anyone to make decisions about Y based on anything I had to say, but in the meantime, did you know that he was accused of this and this. And if that weren’t enough, all this description of what the wolf’s clothing bit was about isn’t really what I meant. It could be something else, too. Not that I can tell you.

I now know what a true guru is cause I got this stuff off a website. I don't know anything about the sources, sure, but it is good enough for me. I know I said it was really, really hard for me to trust anyone, but this is different.

And now that I know what a true guru is, I went and got another one. You should hear him sing. Well, if you could afford to, that is.”

ThatPilgrim”

“So if you speak in third person as a spiritual practice, and then say 'even Daya Mata speaks in third person', does that mean that... no, it can't be... you're Daya now speaking in third person? Re: Debate Challenge
YB,

I directed no personal insults at you. I did poke light-hearted fun (and some perspective) at your habit of speaking in the third person. And I do find it ironic that this habit of speaking in the third person didn't prevent you from taking my comments in such a personal way.

In much the same way, I don't take personally your long commentaries on the Guru/Disciple relationship and other spiritual practices that are dear to me. Nor do I feel the need to debate them with you, or defend them against you. Life's too short- right now I need to go keep my appointment to plaster my face on the floor before my long list of gurus!

Chela2020,

No, thatpilgrim is still not OneTaste. Or the Walrus. Or the eggman. Or smeagle. Or YellowBeard. thatpilgrim doesn't think OneTaste sounds much like him, either. Those tricksy hobbitses are causing you to think smeagle is, oh *#!*#, it's happening again...why did thatpilgrim ever start talking in the third person in the first place is beyond him....Goo goo g' joob...bad dobby..very bad dobby... thatpilgrim's been watching too many movies in the third person and losing himself.....and reading too many message board postings.....who is the third person anyway, and who were the first two.....

Now this is a curious thing to say, precious. One Taste sounds exactly like him. He just doesn't sound like thatpilgrim. One Taste is sure one notices the difference.

Like myself, er, yourself, I too didn't think you sounded like One Taste. At least not the example that chela listed above. Of course, had she listed another example of One Taste's, something like this: "Look, here at (I Am) the Walrus, I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. Goo goo goo joob and yadda yadda yadda, ok? Sitting on our cornflakes, we elves all know this theoretically, just like you do," perhaps maybe you might be closer to sounding like One Taste. Goo goo goo joob?

Hmm. Just now, I notice thatpilgrim is on the board at the same time as One Taste! How do I do that? One Taste will have to think long and hard on that, One Taste will.

Re: Who's on first and the Big Debate Challenge
Oh, dear me! This has all become too complicated for me! Who is who? Or is it whom? Or what? Who is? And why? The existentiality of it all! oh, dear me! Whatever it is you all have, can I have some, too?

[dusting myself off] On a more serious note, with all due respect, Yellowbeard, I think you should follow etzchaim's wise advice and take your battle elsewhere, perhaps to your own board. I really appreciate how much your experiences with SRF/Yogananda have hurt you, and I feel for you, but I for one have no interest in discussing SRF, Yogananda, or meditation with you. Of course, you're welcome to continue on here, but please try to avoid baiting others. It looks so silly. You might also wish to try a little civility; I find it rather amusing that you think we'd be interested in talking with you when you're willing to agree--behind our backs--that we're a bunch of, ahem, "sh*theads and morons" who have no abilities to think.

Go ask alice; see what she has to say. (That's just a bit of humor, YB, nothing more). I think I'll run off now and plaster my face.

One Taste has it on the, er, highest authority that it will all become clear to you, chuckles, if only you would put away those damn repetitive meditation techniques.

Since the picture of Graham Chapman was there staring at One Taste when One Taste read the Big Debate Challenge, One Taste couldn't help think of the black knight in the Holy Grail.

Bring it on! Yeah, W(alrus)WF-style! Now we're cookin'.

You say, "behind our back". YellowBeard is the one who initially brought this particular discussion into light here on the Walrus by posting quotes from the conversation. Considering the extremely strong views presented in these quotes on the subject, it's natural that many Walrusites would jump over to read the full text of the conversation. If YellowBeard wanted to hide these comments, he would have never brought up the conversation that they came from. Here's YellowBeard's comment that is in question here:

"It's like trying to talk to the dead when trying to explain some simple common sense to 'em. Their minds are so wasted from doing these repetitive mind numbing techniques, they just can't hear anything other than what they've been programmed to hear." (YellowBeard speaking in reference to people on the Walrus, 12/26/03)

YellowBeard fails to see how that's any different than how he usually refers to people here (aka guru worshipers and/or Kriyabans) as "Yogananda zombie elves".

> Chuckle Chela: "I for one have no interest in discussing SRF, Yogananda, or meditation with you."

Then don't, it's as simple as that. My debate challenge wasn't towards you. YellowBeard doesn't crash your threads; in fact, he doesn't think that he has ever directly spoken with you before, or if so, not much. So YellowBeard fails to see the problem.

> Chuckle Chela: "please try to avoid baiting others."

YellowBeard realizes the policies here -- that if you worship the guru, you have a free pass to attack anyone, but if you question the fundamentals of the guru-disciple relationship itself and/or Yogananda himself, then you aren't even suppose to defend yourself against other's attacks. And when one such person does, they're viewed as the instigator.

This rule is very convenient for you zombie elves, but YellowBeard is sorry, he will not roll over.

> OneTaste wrote: "Bring it on! Yeah, W(alrus)WF-style! Now we're cookin'."

You do seem awfully worried about that debate challenge considering it wasn't directed towards you ... or perhaps it was? Your posts do seem a bit fishy and conveniently timed.

> OneTaste: "Hmm. Just now, I notice thatpilgrim is on the board at the same time as One Taste! How do I do that?"

You seem to be trying awfully hard to try to counter this claim with some not so clever tricks. If you're not Thatpilgrim, then you're just an instigator, which is actually worse than trying to defend yourself with another username.

Since you seem to be wanting attention here. Let's talk about your SRF Kriya Yoga break-away cult. Exactly what break away cult is it? It's not Ananda, that doesn't leave a whole lot of others, so YellowBeard suspects your group is the "Solar Logos" UFO cult. It would fit your New Age way of looking at the world. Be honest, denying your gurus is pretty dishonorable, but maybe in the New Age scene you think you can "burn up" your karma with some rituals or Kriya Yoga. So who knows if we can get an honest answer here.

My false Guru is Goswami Kriyananda, who is accused of having a false Guru who never advanced in Kriya. I rather like the roguish qualities of my lineage. We're a rebel cult. Shelley, my false Guru's false Guru, was vehemently anti organized religion, left SRF when he realized that he wasn't into having authority issues, practiced Kabbalah, was into theoretical mathematics, Native American ritual, and eating polenta. He was blind, and once had a goat farm, was a hermit, and very nice looking. He considered the earth plain the 'insane asylum of the Universe', and I quite agree. You're a proper inmate, eh?

I used to also be a devotee of the Lubavitch Rebbe, also known as Menachem Schneerson, till I reallized that the insanity my false Guru presented me with was more productive than the insanity that the Lubavitchers provided me and so, now I am a happier insane person, involved in a new age cult that allows me to practice Kabbalah, Yoga and Astrology plus a few other wacky false, non-rational things, at the same time, guilt free. I also like that my false Guru plays subtle mind games on me to help me see my repressed material and issues better, because I'm a glutton for continuous growth and banging my head against the walls I've built around my own connection to God. Someday I figure either my skull will crack and I'll learn my lession or I'll actually break through the walls. I'm an Aries, y'know. I bask in being feisty and aggressive and like to be the center of attention, thank you very much, and really don't care too much about other peoples opinions, because I know I'm right :D

...keep on playing those mind games together...
