Master's books & poems
I guess I got it now: nearly everything I have bought from SRF or Ananda must be, to some degree, biased, or at least be lacking the original power.. Ananda, because they will naturally stress the Brotherhood aspect, SRF because everything goes through the loving hands of Good ol' Tara...
Where can I get the real good stuff?? Please help.

Re: Master's books & poems
Beirut:

I beg to differ w/your comment re: A-n-a-n-d-a and PY's books/materials. Whatever we have and can release of Master's is not subject to an emphasis of ours on world brotherhood. Quite the opposite! We want to offer our gurus original works out to everyone interested! Wouldn't truth-seeking christians cherish any original remnant of Christ Jesus's? (And as with the Deep Sea Scrolls wouldn't the church hierarchy fight their release?) If you look at the A websites or visit us in any of our communities you find that the emphasis is always on inner attunement with the guru and the many ways to do it. Same with our books/tapes/CD's. We do carry some PY talks on tape, videos of services and gatherings of direct disciples and the original 1946 Autobiography through Clarity Publishers. More early original works may be forthcoming. Also, almost all of our Sunday Services are available to download, so you can see us and our dedication to Master for yourself.

Just happens that our lot is to fill in the gaps that Master's first organization ignors or wishes would go away.

Also, check w/ Amrita in Texas for some printed early works of Swami Yogananda, such as The Second Coming of Christ and Sermon on the Mount.

In Service, Premdas

Master's books & poems: Rubaiyat
Speaking of Master's books, I've had a longstanding question about his commentaries on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayam. If anyone can straighten me out on this matter I'll appreciate it!

Why is it that some of the spiritual interpretations are enclosed in quotation marks, and others not? This was the case when these writings appeared in the SRF Magazine, prior to the book, and is also true in the book.

For example, the spiritual interpretations for quatrains II on book pg 7, XXVIII on pg 78, XXIX (pg 81), XXXI (pg 86), and others, are enclosed in quotes. The spiritual interpretations for most of the other quatrains are not.

Who is being quoted? If it's the SRF that is quoting Master, then that implies that the non-quoted writings are not Master's, or are so extensively edited by SRF to no longer be attributable to Master.

What do you think about this???

Another question:
Did Master only write the spiritual interpretation sections, or did he also write the glossary and practical application sections? In the book's "Introduction", which is attributed to Master, he refers to all three (on pages x and xi). However, enough credible questions have been raised about the integrity of SRF's editing process that I'm not comfortable in automatically believing he actually wrote that. Maybe a later editor added it.

Did Master write only the spiritual interpretation sections, or did he write the glossaries and practical applications sections for each quatrain too???

It must've been a long time since I had an Islamic incarnation, because I have trouble feeling any affinity for the Wine of the Mystic

Re: Master's books & poems: Rubaiyat
I don't know anything about your questions but once I heard a story that Lahiri was incarnated in Afghanistan as a moslem and that Daya Mata went to see him and agreed that he was the incarnation of Lahiri. (All this happened 15 or more years ago ) Anybody else hear about this?

Re: Daya Mata goes to Afghanistan
LOL! Daya Mata in Afghanistan to check out Lahiri Mahasaya's reincarnation as an Afghani moslem! This would make for great conversation at anyone's next SRF party. "Did you hear the latest, Ma went to Afghanistan to check out little Mohamed Mahasaya" What a hoot!

Imagine if it turned out he was one of the Al Qaeda fighters. Ya never know, truth is stranger than fiction after all...

Have they really changed the writings ?
I came across an article on yogananda rediscovered site at http://www.yoganandarediscovered.com/jaitruth/Mfg.html

I understand that this article "Have I Found God?" circa 1935 is similar to the one which appears in the book Mans Eternal Quest .
In Man's eternal quest , they have mentioned that they have added some other writings as well.
There doesn't seem to be much difference, maybe a bit with rearrangement with words, but meaning remains same.

Is it true that atleast "God Talks with Arjuna" is quite faithful to his original writings ,with very less changes to what he had said ?
There are references to Kechari in that book, which they would have deleted otherwise
