Plan for Improvements
Since the problems are so commonly known in the ashram (I believe), what has mother center replaced the spiritual life committees with? What are they now doing to address the problems with behavior? Lack of communication? Lack of direction? Fear? Mistrust? Did they replace that committee with anything?

Someone posted here that things were happening which gave some hope? Short of funeral services, what is going on to give us out here hope for improvements?

Going backward
I believe things took a dramatic turn for the worse in the last 12 months. There is no plan by management to address any of the issues I am reading here. Management has not replaced the spiritual life committees and feels that was moving things in the wrong direction.

And just like the kid caught lying who has to continue to invent new and more dramatic lies and excuses, they are now caught in the same trap. Many, like those contributing here, have seen the real state of SRF management. The bad ladies are doing all they can to circle the wagons and keep the lie going. This makes it worse, not better, for those people closely associated with them.

Ah, the bad ladies. I imagine there will someday be a book called that.
“The Bad Ladies: SRF from 1953 to 2002”.

Spiritual Life Committees
I remember Daya Mata saying that the SLCs were Master's wish. So how has she explained why they were disbanded? Simple! No explanation was given. Nothing was explained to the monastics even to this day. The SLCs simply stopped functioning as autonomous entities and became impotent extensions of the Personnel departments.

In increments the Monks' Spiritual Life Committee lost their office at Mount Washington, then their vehicle, then they were split up (one to Hollywood, one to Lake Shrine, one stayed in Encinitas, and one scheduled for a year in India). Their support staff was reassigned to Monks' Personnel. Their powers of financial approval were stripped.

And the Nuns' Spiritual Life Committee's demise was a lot quicker than that. It happened virtually over night. No attempt to extinguish them slowly and (hopefully) imperceptibly as with the monks.

I wonder how DM would explain what happened to Master's wish?

RE: Spiritual Life Committees
Is this specific enough for those of you looking for examples? If you don't know, the SLC groups were a really big deal. As mentioned, they were started and blessed by Daya. They were co-equal with the ridiculous Management Committee. They were doing what they were *asked* to do--no, what they were *ordered* to do. No more, no less.

What kind of examples are you looking for? Do you want to see dead bodies, or implements of torture? We are, after all, talking about psychological abuse.

We are also talking about a group of people trying to mold Master's teachings in their own image. Abuse of those around them is bad enough, but the filter they put on Master's work is long term damage. They are also hardly examples, which drives people away who might otherwise be helped.

Why SLC is gone!
I have been associated to M.W. for years... I cannot give any proof naturally but I can guess why it was disbanded: FEAR!
It's so simple and so much in line with what the Board of Directors has done over the years!
When you keep a room sealed for 50 years the air gets quite heavy, stuffy...if someone opens the door and windows ...It's chaos and revolution! The poor people inside must think the end has come! So....???
Close them up right away! Anyone in the room, even the ones who loved a change of air must have agreed it was too much, especially if things haven't worked out well at first.
I can see the Mridanis, Anandamoys running to Daya Mata with a list of 'unpleasant consequences' and poor (poor because of her old age, loss of control and most likely more easily manipulated) of Ma freaking out and backpedaling about SLC being Master's will!

But a breach was done! It might be easier in the future to create another one.... as a friend of mine says....:God tries to change you in many ways: first He/It Invites you, then asks, then gives you good reasons why and shows you the dangers of continuing that way.... if one's razionalization is so thick to witstand all that... well, He/It usually and metaphorically hits you directly on the head!n (It happened to me a few times).
I am curious how many times He/It has to do it to get through to the SRF leadeship!

They have been in power so long that the only people that will be left in charge will be the watchdogs they trained to keep all the 'bothersome others' out of their lives.

yet, for the inspiration offered to me during the years and for trying the best they could, my heart still goes out to them. They are in my prayers!
