I believe SRF's emphasis on hard-core monastic thinking messed a lot of us up. Only a tiny percent of SRF members will ever be monastics.

So why do we have a monastic guru leading a progressive country of basically householders? Where's the logic in that? How does that provide us with a role model we can relate to?

We have plenty of role models. Sri Yukteswar and Lahari of course were house holders, plus there are a lot of really wonderful lay members I can draw inspiration from.

I also don't feel Master put the emphasis on monastics that the bad ladies do. Dr. Lewis and James Lynn were very close to him and he didn't hesitate to trust them and consider them “real” devotees. They were also role models for us. He put Lynn in charge and made Doctor the VP for heavens sake.

I think the creation of the rock star cast within SRF is purely a distortion to maintain control. If only monastics can be important within SRF then they have fewer people to compete with for power and control. The further distortion that nuns will run the business side is just the next phase in that thinking.

Remember that Faye didn’t even have an Indian name when Master was alive. She awarded herself the “mata” title. Being “Daya” further separated her from the rest of us struggling devotees of Master.

Master saw no difference himself. He could see people for what they really were and the effort they were making.

I agree that the Rock Star monastic cast is a distortion and another evidence of the problem. Ego ego ego. "Only monastics can take my place"
