Her failures as a disciple and leader seem to me to be the core problem within SRF. pub78.ezboard.com/fsrfwal...D=42.topic Her rise to “power” and life long ownership of that office, what they have evolved the SRF presidency to be, the monastic focus inside SRF her organization has developed, and the environment of fear and distrust she has created inside the organization to me indicate that Daya Mata is the core problem inside SRF. There are problems with other individuals, problems with communications, problems with dishonesty and confusion of goals, problems with immature individuals in high positions, but the core issue which enables all this is the character of the president.

For the Daya lovers note that this does not mean she does not love God or at times (like an open house) she is not honestly concerned for some individuals health or welfare. It just means her core values and character are a little messed up.

In my opinion, just becuase a person is God Realized(Daya Ma or anyone else), doesn't inherently mean that they are a talented leader. Thats a learned skill separate from any spiritual attainment. and I don't think its got to due with character or values either. there is no cause-effect link between good charactar, good values and leadership witness the rise of a certain evil individual in Germany(prior to and during WWII) who had unfortunately had great leadership skills. The fact is, Daya Ma could probably use a course on leadership yet I doubt you'll be seeing her register for a leadership course offered by the local chapter of the American Management Assoc anytime soon. All I have seen and heard convinces me that Daya Ma is of good moral character and possesses high spiritual ideals and values. She also has decent organizational and leadership skills that are enhanced by the hierarchical and autocratic nature of the organization she leads. But she can and does make mistakes. Some of them appear to be serious ones. And why should she not make mistakes? Even avatars can and do make them as long as they are part of this drama. Yoganandaji has said that saints have to take on delusion in order to remain here. Lahiri Mahasaya still had desires for a palace. Sri Yukteswar erroneously said that the sun revolves around a dual star creating a 24,000 equinotical precessional cycle. Yoganandaji built a temple that promptly fell into the sea. He also chewed out Dr. Lewis accusing him of doing things he never did. The problem as I see it is that we expect perfection from this world and from others. But there is no perfection anywhere, not even in saints. SRF does little or nothing to help others see this due to their sanitization of history and their implications that SRF and its leaders are perfect or nearly so. We all bought into that fiction and are now here on Walrus because of our disillusionment and disappointment. But really it is a problem of expecting too much from externals. Perhaps the divine plan calls for these errors of others so that they will learn and grow, and so those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear will focus less on what is outside of ourselves and more on the divine kingdom within.

It is a hard lesson to learn, because when you expect too much of others, especially of gurus or those in leadership roles in any religious organization, when you see faults in them, you can come down crashing hard. No wonder even Yogananda said that he quit having expectations of others. And I have found that it is so easy to find faults in others--all you have to do is look. What one man may see as faults in another person, another will think, "What are you talking about?" How much easier it is to look for the good in others. How much more peaceful you become when you do. That is a lesson that is hard to learn, and I am still working on it. But the less I find faults in others, the happier I am.
