For some reason the computer won't take a reply from me for this topic, although I've been able to participate elsewhere. So I decided to reply, although more awkwardly with a new topic:

Freedom of speech reigns here, and I respect that people here will have a different opinion than mine.

I, who have worked in the court system for 22 years, cannot encourage this line of thinking. America seems to want to create victims, so that they can then sue and reap rewards. I've seen it time and again, and I do not think it is the way true healing will happen.

If healing is needed for past wrongs, I think going for it in lawsuits against SRF is not going to have the desired result. It will only create more pain for both parties.

The stories that encourage me in this line of thinking often involve concentration camp vicitims. Many remained victims the rest of their life, never transcending the horrors they saw and experienced. But there were a few who found the way to love and forgive, and their lives shine like a beacon to me and to others that there is a way out of the mess, and it is glorious.

love shines through
Pig Ma,

I stand by you, and perhaps I stand by those who may criticize you in responding.

What needs to be said from my heart is that I have not been where many have been on this board. I have been treated second class and continue to be by monastics (for example, you all know that monastics as a rule don't hug or even shake hands very often with householders, and why is that? we are second class? we have cooties? we would get there spiritual vibe at their expense? they wouldn't be getting spiritual vibes of ours? helaing doesn't begin, continue and find completion in touch?)...treated by nuns and monks as second class citizens and expendable....And I have been traumatized.

What needs to be said, from not just my heart, is that we all act from our own experiences, and it may be hard to accept lawsuits against srf, but maybe it is easier to accept that women and men here on the board are acting from their experiences.

All of you all here on the board, my acceptance slips over to gratitude, thank you, and know that my understanding is broad enough at times to see into your feelings, especially since you are so willing to share them.

I am what I am because of each and everyone of you,

From lawsuits come gains for lawyers

This is a comment on being held accountable for what has been done. I posted in the previous page, but did not appear there with me either, as for Pig Ma. I agree wholeheartedly with her on the dangers or perils of lawsuit troubles too, after many hard experiences along that alley in another context.

Below is what disappeard on a previous string, then:

Should Free, you see that SRF has been promoting teachings fit for monastics. I would have added "more or less" to that. Is that any fault of SRF, if they do so? Not necessarily, if the door is open for anyone who wants to get out again. It may not be so to all. That is a problem.

Aren't SRF free to live up to their religious credos? It is a human right as well, I figure. The SRF persuation is that cutting out so-called worldly things may free the mind and energy for high pursuits and result in benefits that can be awfully hard to measure or make out of. Reducing things to focus on mental or higher things needn't be bad or all bad. Yes, I think we can say there are both pros and cons involved, all things considered.

It is also found that SRF was targetting such a way of life for decades, and I haven't heard of anyone that went to court to sue before - does this point matter?

It is also very true that tolerating what works bad on or for oneself breeds humiliations. If the teachings hurt and halfway cripple spirits instead of strengthening them, one had better look for FINER VALUES that will work in times to come, so that there will be jokes and laughing, lives in good order, and fit self-examinations, for example.

This is how it seems to me. Many years ago I burnt my whole load of SRF lessons and Service Readings in the garden, and only regretted that I had donated much and spent a lot of time for SRF in another country than yours - presumably. Lawsuits were not an issue then.

Even now, after reading your highly informative posts on the issue of accountability and (fear of) lawsuits, I'm rather for breeding clarity through composure. That's how I am. Others may feel differently.

God bless.
