Ms. Finch changes jobs
Any of you who have lived in an SRF property at some point over the last 20 years or so have known Ms. Finch. She was the terror of the SRF property management department and also the girls youth program. She went to the SS Storm Trooper School of caring and giving and treated renters like, well, like SRF treats its employees. Ms. Finch is most likely the star behind this story (see this link).

She has been moved out of that property management responsibility! She is apparently now going to be in the Membership department which means she can spread her attitude and character to all the membership now.

So much for SRF changing and growing and getting better. I guess it is changing, just not what I expected.

Re: Ms. Finch changes jobs
I remember Shirley Finch from when my brother and I were renting one of the Hollywood Temple apartments...way back in the early 80's. While I don't remember her as being remotely warm, I also don't remember having any particular difficulty with her.

When I worked in the kitchen on Mt. Washington, she was the cooks supervisor, of sorts. I do remember she was very demanding and it wasn't always easy to understand her motives. However, since my job was one with about the least authority, well, no authority, I was never really fazed by her behavior. She was just someone I never felt comfortable around and preferred to avoid, I guess.

I never rented from SRF myself but did run into her from time to time. She was very serious. I have second hand knowledge of her being extreamly strick to with renters but no other first hand knowledge. So I have nothing really to say to shed light on this topic. :)

Just wanted to say that. :) :)

If the quote story is true she has a rigid streak. Mother center pushes people to that. To survive there you have to either adapt or die.

Re: Ms. Finch changes jobs
Ms. Finch was a holy terror. She crushed more helpless member employees than anyone at mother center. Women working for her used to be found crying in the garden area and most didn’t last long.

Of course she was only a product of the SRF environment. That environment creates people like her and then takes no responsibility for their creation. What they have now done is to wake up after allowing her to hurt people for 15 years and say “Oh, we have created a monster!”. So now they have demoted her and pushed her into a low level job to punish her.

SRF creates the monster then tortures it. The religion for the new age.

Re: Ms. Finch changes jobs
My understanding is that more than a year later this has never happened. She dragged her feet and pulled strings and yelled for help. Doing the humble work in the membership department was not her thing. She wants to humbly serve Master at the Mother Center and not the Victory building in Burbank where the membership department is now.

Re: Ms. Finch changes jobs
One morning, a little mouse was happily running along the forest floor. She was a very content mouse, because every time the sky was cloudy and the rain fell, the sun would always come out and the flowers would grow. This made her very happy. She was a bit simple. This morning she noticed a big lion in the forest. He wasn't very happy. Tears were falling down his face and he kept repeating "ouch, this hurts", "ouch, this hurts", over and over again. The little mouse decided to go over and see if there was something she could do.

"Mr. Lion", she said, "I am only a mouse, but I can't but notice that you are holding onto a thornbush, and the thorns are digging into your skin. If you let go of it, you will be able to enjoy the flowers on the bush that bloomed after the rain, and it will not hurt you."

"Really?" said the big lion, "How do I do that?".

"Well, if you take your left arm and swing it straight out in the air to the left of your body, and take your right arm and swing it straight out to the right of your body, and then back away very quickly, I think that would probably work."

"OK, I'm going to try that" said the big lion.

He did exactly as she told him and breathed a really big sigh of relief. "Phew!!! That's much better! Thank you, miss Mouse".

"You're welcome, Mr. Lion" the mouse-maid said, and continued on her way.

The very next day, the little mouse was happily running about the forest floor again. It was a new day and everything was different. The birds were singing new songs, new flowers had blossemed and there was so much to explore. She came across her friend the Lion, but he was again not very happy.

"Ouch! This hurting me. Ouch, this is hurting me", he said, again and again.

"Why, Mr. Lion!" said the mouse, "You're holding onto the thornbush again, that's why you are in pain!"

"Yes, miss Mouse, I realized many things when you left yesterday. You are a lowly mouse, I am a great lion. You see the difference between me and you? All of my anscestors have been kings and all of yours have been lowly mice. I know why you told me to let go of the thornbush. You want it for yourself. It's mine, you are not worthy of it and you can never be Royal. Ouch! Ouch! This is hurting me"

"Yes, Mr. Lion." say the simple little mouse. "I DO see the difference between us!" and with that, she went away and happily explored the forest floor.

I don't think Ms. Finch reads the Walrus much. They have found their God and don't need to read things like this or even Master's teachings. It must be wonderful to be so holy.

Re: Ms. Finch changes jobs
For those who don't know it, Ms ("If I only had a heart...")Finch is not just an SRF employee. She belongs to what SRF calls their third order of resident lay disciple monastics. In recent years, SRF has allowed 4 or 5 older people to join this group and live permanently in one of the ashrams. But they turn away many more than they accept. I personally know a number of sincere, devoted men, young and old, who greatly wanted to serve God and Guru and live a God centered life as SRF monks, but who were told they were unwanted by SRF. At the same time, Ms Finch and some others like her are embraced into the fold. Go figure.

Why is the membership department in Burbank instead of mother center? What else is in Burbank? It this SRF's way of saying something to members?

Burbank
I pulled this answer off to another thread since it is not about Finch.
