I sincerely sympathize with the poor treatment many of the monastics have experienced. I have many monastic friends, and many ex-monastic friends. The stories are so truly disappointing, and so unnecessary. This kind of treatment can’t be tolerated. This current generation of SRF leadership will be quickly forgotten and I hope some lessons will be learned. Their books will be discontinued and pictures removed.

For myself, I had been a big supporter of SRF for many years. I therefore feel some responsibility for allowing this treatment to take place. I treated the leadership like divine beings, thereby giving them the political clout and power to create the current culture that is so abusive to those close to it.

I am partly to blame. I wish I could do something about it.
