"Which Sounds Like Paranoia?"
With regards to the e-mail "Which Sounds Like Paranoia."

It sounds like somebody in srf knows that the best defense is a good offense.

There is plenty of lawsuit material here alright. If I had a son or a daughter had been put through the ringer by this organization (cult?) as has been described in some of these posts, you can bet they'd be hearing from my lawyer.

Also, I do not believe that documents signed under duress are legally binding. I would encourage any ex-monastics who feel that they have been harrassed or threatened into signing documents to seek legal counsel, hush money or not. This is to say nothing of the apparent mental anguish of many ex-monastics and employees and the misappropriation of funds of many well meaning devotees being funnelled into expensive lawsuits and such.

Also, many on this board are not completely anonymous. My e-mail address is available in my profile, as are many I have seen. I have heard from and talked on the phone with at least one member of this board who has given out his name and the temple he attended as well as much other information about himself. I have also given out a good deal of information about myself and could be easily recognized by many people I have known (although I have tried to avoid name dropping to respect the privacy of others, preferring to x out thier names).

The persons on this board who seem to be the most protective and paranoid of their privacy it seems to me are the ones whose sole purpose is to disrupt it. I have noticed that these people will give little to no information about themselves. There is nothing in thier contact information and even their in-box is usually disabled.

We can verify that we have received panicked emails from two different people asking that most or all of their messages be removed. We don’t know the reason. A warning from a senior nun to an SRF member would certainly generate that kind of reaction but the reason was never mentioned in the emails. We do know that senior monastics have told members that the Walrus is not good for them and they should stay away. We took that as a compliment.

In the early days of the Walrus there was a witch hunt at the HQ and some monastics who posted were discovered and punished. After that they setup someone to monitor the board and keep the senior nuns up to date. I suspect all that has fallen off.

The most usual case is that we get an email from someone who feels guilty about talking about their experiences and wants help deleting them. This has happened half a dozen times. Guilt is a powerful weapon for SRF. They confuse the whole loyalty thing to the extent that loyalty to God means loyalty to the senior nuns and the organization.

The Walrus has received no communication directly from SRF or its lawyers. We don’t think there are any grounds for any lawsuits BY SRF against anyone here. There is much confusion about freedom of speech but the opinions expressed here are certainly part of that freedom. We have no doubt that SRF would pursue a lawsuit if that were not the case.

That's very interesting.

I think we need to watch out for what I've observed in some posts as "srf-speak" as in "not offering solutions and being too negative". The truth in itself is a solution and if you have to lie and cover up in order to be positive, then you have put your blinders on and will soon be going blind.

Standing in your own personal truth (the only one we each have) is neither positive nor negative, it just IS.

The mixture of truth and lies (the Master's truths combined with the organization's lies) is confusing and blinding to many, which is why we often refer to it as a cult.

I have also noticed that the critics of this board usually make very generalized statements about it. They usually do not comment on any individual post or thread, but simply the dismiss the whole board (which also leads me to believe that they don't read it). I noticed that one e-mail from an ex-monk(?) even referred to it as a "stench".

This in itself is graphically insulting language and yet he probably didn't even notice it; the rational being of course that in defense of srf, anything is excusable. He also stressed our need for "gratitude" (not only should individuals feel guilty about having problems, they must also remember to be grateful!) Amazing!

I often wonder when people like this will ever wake up. To be insulting, unloving and clueless all in the same e-mail and still manage to be offended! I am also getting tired of this ridiculous chilvalry over daya mata, particularly in light of people with real problems. She has been a "dog in a manger" for 50+ years and I'll bet she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself.

But as another poster is fond of saying "What of it?"

I don't think that this is the attitude Master would want us to have towards our spiritual family.
