Re: The results of following SRF
Sounds like SRF screwed you. This SRF is a cult. It tells you to do things that prevent you from surviving in this world and then does not help you financially.

I always find it amusing that SRF loves its rich disciples so much. And at the same time, destroys any possibility for its regular folk to become rich and successful by its rules and regulations

"It's just that I feel that you're best off
by viewing SRF as a dispensation that spreads the kriya yoga techniques and that's it. And since the internet is
here now they can RELAX."

Asparas, you've made my day! Thanks for posting.

Also, the physical world is how God is manifesting. There is nothing wrong with living in the world, and definately nothing EVIL with living in the world. Just like we have to breathe and eat food, we also have to find ways to put roofs over our heads, and be able to take a bath, reproduce and educate ourselves and our children. Money is like physical prana. There is nothing wrong with it. It can be abused, just like anything else, but there is nothing wrong with it. Running away from the world and calling yourself more 'spiritual' does not make a person 'holy' and the abuse of 'spirituality' is just as rampant as the abuse of money.

Let's get to the bottom of this:

Poverty sucks, and twisted sexuality, from repression and believing that it is a 'sin', even just subconsciously, is just gross and harmful.

I missed this, and it's excellent, by the way (in case you still come around here).

I like that you say there is noting wrong with living in the world. That's something SRF doesn't want their devotees to believe, that the world is a terrible place without them. The poor monks are so disassociated with real family life, with real business life, with any real life that their advice and wisdom is comical at best.

They didn't call themselves more spiritual that I recall but everyone thought them so, and I always wondered if that fed the very ego they meant to squash. I felt sorry for the young monks, how they must have urges that left them feeling shame. Even in my heyday I thought it unnatural to live with other men in a repressed environment.

The mental abuse isn't in the SRF teachings per se, but what the mind will absorb when the teachings are taught by others within the organization, whether that be monks or lay diciples. Their spin is the danger zone.
