New Website: Yogananda African American
As a commemoration for Black History Week 2003, this new website is designed to give a new historical and comtemporary perspective of Paramhansa Yogananda's legacy to the world.

Re: New Website: Yogananda African American
Kriyaman,

Thanks for posting that link to the very inspiring site. It is interesting to note that Yogananda was so involved with people of color (being a man of color himself!), and at a time when it wasn't especially welcome or advantageous for him to have done so. It shows the universality of his awareness, if it was ever in doubt, where the "rubber meets the road".

Also thanks for the products. I've wanted to view the Luther McKinney video since I've read of his demise last summer. Now I'll have the opportunity.

It is this type of inclusion of seeing people as people wherever they reside or the color of their skin, that can serve to help alleviate the lower, dark war consciousness so sadly prevalent today. Many people want peace and are seeking desperately, so it is wonderful that Ram and Diana's African "campaigns" might serve as one of the pebble's that starts the ripple of an advancing higher consciousness this old world so badly needs.

Guests and Most particularly Kriyaman,

This is great!

Kriyaman, what Lobo says speaks for many, many of us and I imagine those to come.

When Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at commencement at Antioch in Ohio, I heard the speech live.......
I was studying Gandhi next as a result of King's understanding of non-violence

Thanks to King's intro to Gandhi and along with that Eastern thought and love, I was able at 18 to be opening my heart to Yogananda.

thanks bro, soulcircle

Lobo,

You might be interested in a very beautiful talk on the Ananda website about Martin Luther King. The talk is by Sheila Rush, an Ananda minister and black woman who was involved with the civil rights movement, and I think even met Martin Luther King. You can see and hear the talk on streaming video by going to:
www.ananda.org/inspiratio...unday.html

and then scrolling down to:
"Sunday Service at Ananda Village,Jan 19, 2003
Sheila Rush talk on Martin Luther King - 25 minutes
• Talk (Streaming Media Dial-up modem version)
• Talk (Streaming Media Broadband version)
Download MP3 version (audio only), 25MB"

She especially talks about the high ideals of love and non-violence that Dr. King practiced.

Pilgrim,

I just came across this post of yours. I tried the link and everything worked except the talk. To check my realaudio I went to the next talk and that worked.

Maybe Sheila's talk has be taken off the list or experiencing some "technical difficulty". I'll check back later to see if its been fixed.

Anyway thanks for the tip. Dr. King is one of my hero's (and SoulCircle's it seems from his post). He fought so valiantly against the depressing darkness of small minds and closed hearts. Evil seemed to win with his assassination, but his Gandhian ideals were fully realized in his spiritual brother Nelson Mandela who proved with his spiritual toughness and devotion to justice and truth that the "first shall be the last, the last first."

Yes, let's fool and fleece the African American community as well, like they haven't been through enough already.

Great job PY, go ahead and shake coins out of every pocket in your path -- I suppose that was his idea of equality.
